specifically in the Great Lakes Region, this year's summit has become a much
anticipated event that brings together political leaders and government agencies
active in economic development. The format allows for the participants to openly
discuss the key issues affecting the economy in the Great Lakes Region, and to
format possible alliances towards regional job development and growth.

Press Release Body: AMHERSTBURG, ONTARIO CANADA. - The Amherstburg Chamber of
Commerce holds an annual Economic Summit. This year's summit will be held on Friday
June 13th, 2008 at the Gordon House, and adjacent riverfront grounds.
With rapid changes in the economy in North America, and specifically in
the Great Lakes Region, this year's summit has become a much anticipated
event that brings together political leaders and government agencies
active in economic development. The format allows for the participants to
openly discuss the key issues affecting the economy in the Great Lakes
Region, and to format possible alliances towards regional job development
and growth.
In Green Technology Job Development, the Roundtable Participants will
focus on the creation of jobs with relevance to new technologies in the
solar, bio diesel, and wind energy sectors including energy from
recycling. The goal is towards development of the Great Lakes Region as a
Leader in Green Technology Industries. The Amherstburg Chamber recognizes
the importance of this Region to become a Leader now. Recently, Michigan
and other Regions in this area have made great strides in advancing into
new green technologies creating jobs. We see this progress as being very
significant, and respect the insight of some key political leaders that
have had the foresight to advance in these progressing technologies.
The Chamber is pleased to announce that the guest speaker during the
luncheon will be Mr. John C. Austin. Mr. Austin directs the Great Lakes
Economic Initiative, created to improve the economic vitality of the
region. His expertise includes higher education and workforce policy. He
holds the current positions of Vice President of the Michigan State Board
of Education; Lecturer, University of Michigan School of Architecture and
Urban Planning; Senior Fellow with the University of Michigan\'s School of
Education - National Forum on Higher Education for the Public Good. In
addition, his past positions include Policy Director, Michigan Lieutenant
Governor\'s Commission on Higher Education and Economic Growth;Consultant,
Charles Stewart Mott Foundation;President, Flint Roundtable;Senior Policy
Advisor, Public Policy Associates;Director of Special Projects, Office of
Business Development and International Trade. Massachusetts Secretariat
of Economic Affairs and Special Assistant to the Governor, Office of the
Governor of Massachusetts
