Press Release Body: Dublin, Ireland, May 19th, 2008 - Fergus O'Mahony today announced that the Warren Gallery is showcasing a collection of British Modern Art in Dublin's Gresham Hotel from 19th-21st June.
"In my fifth year as a gallery owner and art dealer, I could not let this year pass without celebrating the wonderful work of artists from across the Irish Sea," says Fergus O'Mahony. "The Magic of St Ives and Lancashire in the art world is well known and they have brought to us painters that form the cornerstone of the British modern era, but we must also not forget the Scottish and the Welsh and other parts of the U.K. that have produced a plethora of wonderful painters and it is this homage I must pay by bringing to Dublin a collection of the finest British modern art and also not forget that a number of Painters we call our own also made their mark in the U.K. and have included them as a mark of respect."
According to O'Mahony, "To put together this show takes time and a lot of work and I could not do this event without the great help of my colleague Bill Clark who has supplied me with many wonderful paintings and I am truly grateful. I am also delighted to have The Rt Hon Tessa Jowell Minister for London and the 2012 Olympics to open our show and thank her so much for taking time out of her busy schedule to come to Dublin for the event."
The organisers want to acknowledge the support of the event sponsors whose support ensured this major exhibition could take place: Fleming Construction, Landsbanki Heritable Bank, Landsbanki Merrion Capital and Bollinger Champagne. The event hosts, the Gresham Hotel have also played their part in providing an outstanding location in the heart of Dublin.
