Press Release Summary: The \'Real Rhode Islander\' calendar competition to benefit the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Research Foundation will conclude this coming Saturday Night at Monet during a celebration party that is open to the public.
Press Release Body: (Warwick, Rhode Island, USA) The live interview phase of the \'Real Rhode Islander\' calendar competition to benefit the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Research Foundation concluded at the 1149 Restaurant in Warwick on Saturday night. Winners will be announced this coming Saturday Night at Monet during a celebration party that is open to the public.
With hundreds of nominations to sort through and nearly a hundred live interviews with a panel of official judges at three locations over three weeks time, the final decision to select 15 women and 15 men for two different calendars is now exclusively up to those judges.
Those judges declined an interview and aren\'t talking.
Over the last three weeks Rhode Islanders from all walks of life appeared for live interviews to portray their success, show their good looks, convey the goodness of their "inner being" and stress their positive impact on the community. Many interviewees were either cancer survivors or had family members that suffered from the disease.
"It\'s all in the hands of the judges now," said the concept originator for \'Real Rhode Islander\' Stacey Caputi to one contestant. "The judges have a lot of work ahead of them."
Two \'Real Rhode Islander\' calendars, one of women and one of men will each feature 15 Ocean state residents in a classy, tasteful photo with a brief bio. The calendars will be released during Breast Cancer awareness month in October 2008 and will be available at all Tim Hortons, Curves, Gloria Gemma Foundation events, Brown book store, online and numerous other store locations. The calendar will sell for $19.99 and proceeds raised will benefit the Gloria Gemma Cancer Research Foundation.
The announcement of winners will be at the official celebration party with food, free giveaways, entertainment, local celebrities and more. The public is invited to Monet Lounge behind the Providence Place Mall on Saturday, June 28th starting at 6pm to share in the festivities.
