Press Release Summary: The highlights of Dublin's favourite newspaper, the Evening Herald, and lots more special features, are now available online each day following the recent launch of herald.ie.
Press Release Body: Dublin, Ireland, June 13 2008 --The website features the best of the news, sport, interviews and pictures from the capital's most widely-read newspaper.
The site is intended to complement the print product; additional content - such as picture galleries - are also available online, along with extensive feedback sections which allow readers to post their comments on articles which appear in the newspaper.
There is also an opportunity for readers and site users to join in Herald campaigns such as the campaign against proposed toll increases on the M50. The online portal is updated regularly each day, allowing users access to the latest city and international news.
A breaking-news feature is also included on the site. "One of the more exciting things we've found so far is that readers are commenting on stories and providing some really interesting points of debate about Herald articles," said Martha Mathews head of content at Independent Digital, which manages the site.
"We really value the interaction we get from our readers," she added.
"We look forward to getting more feedback. We hope, over time, Herald readers come to see it as being part of their online community."
The Herald has a daily readership of 315,000 and a target audience of young Dublin adults. Herald Editor Stephen Rae said the development of herald.ie was a welcome expansion of the entire Herald product.
"We already offer readers a newspaper which deals with the stories and issues that matter to them - the website is an additional service which we think they'll enjoy," he said.
With micro sites for Dublin events such as the Mini Marathon and a dedicated \'The Dubs' section in Sport, we make sure that no matter what's on in Dublin, it's captured on Herald.ie.
Herald.ie is currently the only Irish news website focusing on the Capital and provides an already existing geo targeted audience for advertisers. Clients can avail of the same wide range of ad spots and targeting options available on Independent.ie, while accessing a new online community.
