Press Release Body: Ottawa, July 10, 2008 -- The Institute for Human Conceptual and Mental Development (IHCMD) announces the launch later in the year of a new website, providing a different view, understanding and approach of managing mental problems, the mind and mental existence, improving mental performance, effectiveness and efficiency. The website will be for users and practitioners alike.
We are told 1 in 4 will suffer from mental illness at some point in their life. In reality, we all throughout life experience and must deal with mental problems and difficulties, demands and challenges. The question is how we deal with and manage them
We can ignore and deny them until they develop into larger, chronic, persisting and growing problems, difficulties and crises. Dealing with them through treatment by experts and specialists, psychoanalysis, psychotherapy and psychiatric medication.
Or, we can deal with them through active individual engagement, understanding and managing the mind and mental existence. Understanding and managing the mind and mental existence as the place where we consciously exist and act, where we experience, become aware and consider the conditions of existence and the world around us and how to deal with them. The place where individually we are in charge and in control, where we must actively be engaged and take responsibility for what takes place, what we do, and what we fail to do, establish, develop and maintain. Where we make choices and decisions, where we define aims, goals and objectives, where we plan, organize and manage our behaviour and action. It is the place where problems and difficulties, errors and mistakes have their roots and beginnings and where answers and solutions must start.
Making understanding and managing the mind and mental existence, mental problems and difficulties, demands and challenges part of daily life, work and effort. Connecting and integrating mental and physical existence, behaviour and action, work and effort into an interactive process. Establishing, in everything we do and we engage in, the necessary internal mental conditions before engaging and dealing with external conditions, the world around us, with others, nature and the natural environment.
Active individual engagement is an approach of understanding and managing mental problems, the mind and mental existence that differs from the traditional and conventional approach of psychology and psychiatry. The approach differs in view and understanding, in focus and concentration, in answers and solutions, in objectives and results. Further announcements are to follow.
