AASM is the national accrediting body for sleep disorders centers and laboratories. AASM accreditation is the gold standard by which the medical community and the public can evaluate sleep medicine services. The Standards for Accreditation ensure that sleep medicine providers' display and maintain proficiency in areas such as testing procedures and policies, patient safety and follow-up, and physician and staff training.
"Although our Sleep Center has achieved this highest accolade by the AASM, we believe that applying the "Gold Standard" specific to Sleep Medicine will be greatly beneficial to our program in providing best patient care," said Dr. Vinette Coelho-D'Costa, Medical Director of The Somerset Sleep Consultants Center. Furthermore, Dr. Jack Lee, board certified sleep specialist in the same program, added, "By upholding the Standards of Accreditation, we show that we are resolved in advancing our program as well as the field of sleep medicine altogether."
