Press Release Body: Northern Ireland, August 2008
One of the largest independent telecoms providers in the UK has selected leading software vendor Singularity's Wholesale Line Rental (WLR3) solution to connect to the OpenReach network. The deal with Rainbow Telecom is the 5th won by Singularity in this quarter alone, consolidating their position as the number one provider of WLR3 solutions to the UK telecommunications sector.
In 2005 the UK's communications regulator OFCOM stipulated that BT must open up its wholesale services to independent providers. In response, BT has spun off its wholesale arm into a new company called OpenReach, which will provide a 'level playing field' to all Telco Providers in the UK who want to buy and sell phone services to business and private customers. However, before they can access these new services the independent operators have to be able to link their internal ordering systems to OpenReach using a new standard called Wholesale Line Rental 3 (WLR3).
Rainbow Telecom chose Singularity's WLR3 solution to connect them to OpenReach after a rigorous competitor evaluation, based on Singularity's expertise in WLR3 and their success delivering previous projects for customers including BT, O-Bit Telecom and Unicom.
"Singularity stood out because of their excellent track record, their size and their proficiency in WLR3", said Martin Hamill, co-founder of Rainbow Telecom. "We look forward to going live on WLR3 and to the benefits that will bring to our customers".
"We're delighted to have secured the contract with Rainbow Telecom" said Dr. Robert McGarry, Director of Telecommunications at Singularity. "In little over 18 months we've established leadership in this market, and the momentum continues to grow."
