Press Release Body: SOURCE INTERLINK MEDIA DONATES THOUSANDS OF ENTHUSIAST MAGAZINES TO OPERATION GRATITUDE
Irvine, California - August 12, 2008 - SOURCE INTERLINK MEDIA, the leading publisher of enthusiast media, today announced it is working with Operation Gratitude to distribute more than 12,000 magazines to U.S. troops deployed around the world. Operation Gratitude's mission is to lift troops' morale by sending care packages to service members overseas.
Through collection drives, letter writing campaigns and donations of requested items or funds for shipping expenses, Operation Gratitude provides civilians anywhere in America a way to express their respect and appreciation to the men and women of the U.S. military in an active, hands-on manner. The initiative sends care packages containing food, toiletries, entertainment items and personal letters of appreciation to comfort those away from home.
"When this opportunity came about for Source Interlink to donate to Operation Gratitude, it was a no-brainer. We are pretty sure that there are some car and sport lovers deployed on duty," said Josh Speyer, CEO of Source Interlink Media Automotive Digital. "Anything we can do to boost the spirits of the soldiers out there fighting for us-to give them a piece of home-is an honor."
Motor Trend, Automobile, Power & Motoryacht, Hot Rod, Snowboarder, Motorcyclist and Surfer are just a few of the well-known brands that are being sent to locations such as the Middle East, Afghanistan, Africa, Guantanamo Bay and on ships throughout international waters.
"We know our efforts are making a difference and that our troops gain a real sense of comfort when they receive the care packages from home," said Carolyn Blashek, Founder of Operation Gratitude. "We encourage more individuals and companies to help the effort and support our brave U.S. military personnel."
Operation Gratitude is a non-profit, all-volunteer corporation, funded entirely by private donations. For safety and security, the assembling of all packages occurs at the Army National Guard Armory in Van Nuys, California.
