Press Release Summary: ProxSys Media Asset Management solution used by SSN TV for around-the-clock sports production and broadcasting
Press Release Body: Amsterdam, The Netherlands (IBC2008) – September 9, 2008 -- Focus Enhancements Inc. (NASDAQ: FCSE), a worldwide leader in media management and ultra wideband (UWB) wireless technology, will demonstrate its ProxSys® Media Asset Management (MAM) solutions for broadcasters at IBC2008 held at the Amsterdam RAI Centre (Booth 9.D41) from September 12-16. Ideal for small to mid-sized television stations, ProxSys streamlines the entire broadcast workflow – from capturing and management to broadcasting and archiving.
Sports broadcaster SSN TV has successfully deployed ProSys for approximately one year, using Focus Enhancements’ leading media asset management solution to effectively manage and enhance the production and broadcast of its daily program. Based at the MMC Studios in Cologne Ossendorf, Germany, SSN TV distributes content via satellite and IPTV and reports around the clock on a wide variety of sports and events.
“For us it was very important to find a system that offers a one-stop solution,” said Thomas Kalkof, director for broadcast, program and schedule planning at SSN TV. “We have been using Focus Enhancements’ Media Asset Management system since our initial broadcast in June 2007 and are completely satisfied. ProxSys saves us a tremendous amount of time and manpower – from capturing and editing to broadcasting and archiving. It is all-around very scalable, and can be used for new programs.”
Focus Enhancements’ MAM solutions reduce the time and cost of content production by eliminating the time-consuming steps of capturing and digitizing analog material. Users can transfer sports and news coverage or broadcast tapes directly into the system for immediate broadcast, to be made available online, or further processed. ProxSys’ advanced editing capabilities provide the option to set freely-definable in- and out-points without losing the original video material. In addition, all broadcast material can be digitally archived and enhanced with time code based keywords for effective management.
With ProxSys’ intuitive web browser interface, SSN TV’s entire editorial, program, and scheduling staff can work on the system simultaneously at any time and from any location where internet access is available. Users can even remotely control the broadcast server to make changes to an ongoing program.
Following the success of the ProxSys implementation at SSN TV, the broadcaster and its parent company BEST, a German Corporation which also holds stakes in Star TV, Bono TV, and Rose Production, plan to implement the media asset management solution for additional channels, in addition to recommending the system to other television stations.
“We are delighted to have SSN TV, an innovative sports broadcaster, as our customer who uses the core features of the ProxSys Media Asset Management system such as playout, web access, and archiving for its uninterrupted 24 hour broadcast,” said Norman Schlomka, General Manager of Focus Enhancements\' European Operations.
