Press Release Summary: PV Systems has launched the UK’s first ‘solar slate’ roof tile, blending the latest photovoltaic technology with a slate tile so convincing, it has been successfully installed on a Grade 1 Listed building.
Press Release Body: ‘Heritage Solar Slate’ is a newly released, leading-edge product from PV Systems, the UK’s longest established photovoltaic company. Solar Slate embodies the usual benefits of solar, but overcomes some of the obstacles met by traditional installations. Because of its remarkable slate-like appearance, it has been successfully installed on a Grade 1 Listed property in Wiltshire, and has met with full planning approval.
MD of PV Systems, Bruce Cross, comments: “Before Heritage Solar Slate, solar powered roofs were too conspicuous to stand a chance at meeting strict planning guidelines. Even for unrestricted buildings, some people have felt that traditional solar panels are an ugly addition and so decided against installing them. These slates are almost indistinguishable from standard slates, overcoming both aesthetic and planning concerns and making solar power available to everyone.”
Heritage Solar Slate comes in ‘easy install’ kit form, producing between 600 Watts and 3 Kilowatts per pack. The installation requires no additional training or equipment and no niche trades on site. The roof, at Maslands Farm in Marlborough, was completed using standard techniques by local firm, Marden Roofing. The original architect, Ron Dobson of Humberts, specified the materials for the project.
