WSG is scheduled to begin on July 31, 2009, about one week after California’s U.S.
Open surfing tournament ends, allowing ample time for the competitors to travel from
the United States to Costa Rica. With the combination of a large number of
tournament athletes, millions of viewers worldwide, and Costa Rica’s already
