The GOAL Ball: Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of GOAL in the US Cipriani, Wall Street, New York City November 7, 2008
Join us as we celebrate the 20th Anniversary of GOAL in the USA at our annual New York Ball in Cipriani.
Last year's ball was a record-breaking night, celebrating 30 years of operation and raising a phenomenal one million dollars for the poorest of the poor in 12 countries across the developing world. The live auction alone raised $358,000 with dinner guests bidding on items ranging from a South African Safari to a Wine Tasting Holiday in Italy and an exclusive one-of-a-kind Marc Jacobs bag.
Afterwards, guests dug deep to fund a GOAL housing project in Uganda. The auction-style round of bidding raised enough money to build 40 houses for HIV/AIDS affected and vulnerable families. We are pleased to announce that to date over 270 houses have already been built. The effect on the community has been immediate: the protection, support and improved living conditions is providing a lifeline to children in Uganda, many of whom are being given the training and skills to plan for a better future.
The evening begins with a champagne cocktail reception with passed hors d'oeuvres followed by a 3-course meal with premium selected wine. Guests will enjoy an open bar from 7:30 until late, live music, a live auction and a full casino. Don't miss the opportunity to win great prizes in our raffle and bid on fabulous auction items such as overseas vacation packages, designer accessories and celebrity items.
All proceeds from the ball will go towards GOAL's work in the Developing World. For 31 years GOAL has remained committed to alleviating the suffering of the poorest of the poor. To do this, GOAL has kept administration costs exceptionally low, ensuring donations reach those who need them most.
GOAL is proud to announce that AIG is our main dinner sponsor this year. Our dinner Chair is Leslie Buckley of Digicel with co-Chairs Ned Cloonan of AIG, Paul Galligan of ICAP, Ian Hyland of Business and Finance Magazine, Heather James of Federal Street Partners LLC.
