WASHINGTON DC - As America 's involvement in the war overseas begins to decrease and the currently deployed military personnel begin to come back home, an increase in alcoholism rates is expected.
“Historically, in wartime, alcoholism among those returning home increases,” begins a spokesperson for Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center . “Military life in itself comes with stresses that civilian life just doesn't bring. And, those involved in the military during wartime, encounter even more stress than during times of peace. After returning home, many find it difficult to re-adjust, experience extreme depression and some even suffer with post traumatic stress. This can result in an increase in alcohol consumption in an effort to try and deal with issues that arise from the experience. That is why it is so important for the community and professionals within the community to get involved and reach out to military personnel. Letting them know that support exists, should they need it, can really change the way that many individuals choose to deal with their issues.”
Mountainside has long been an advocate of community based initiatives that help individuals combat the threat of alcoholism and drug abuse. Research has shown that in communities that have an established education and support system, substance abuse rates decline.
For the past 12 years, Mountainside has established itself as an innovator within the addiction treatment field, and the treatment modalities Mountainside utilizes are regarded as among the most cutting-edge approaches in helping individuals to get and to remain sober.

Waters, for an in-depth meeting on what makes its program so successful. These accolades did not go unnoticed within the addiction treatment field and resulted in the adoption by many throughout the country of a more holistic approach to drug addiction treatment.
