DirectRooms.com – Cultural Fest Take Place in Townsville from 17 to 21 August 2011

The event is being organised by the Townsville Intercultural Centre in partnership with the Townsville City Council and the Tabarsi Community Consultancy. The main aim is to celebrate the wide diversity of cultures that make up Australia. The five day event is a celebration of the best in the arts, performance and foods which can be found in the region. There will be hundreds of singers, artists and dancers coming together to provide an eclectic mix of performances on three main stages, craft stalls stretching throughout Strand Park and food stands selling cuisine from all over the region and the world. There will be a number of workshops on subjects which include wholistic health, self-defence and indigenous knowledge. Visitors can also visit art galleries and installations or enjoy the numerous amusement rides. The festival has been known to attract over 80,000 visitors and this year is likely to be no different. This will be the 17th year Cultural Fest has been held; it is the biggest community based event of its kind held in Australia.
