document capture and import tasks for the ImageNow® document imaging, document
management and workflow suite.Scan Prompter reduces the time and complexity of importing a set of related documents (package) that may vary in size or type. Before scanning a package, Scan Prompter identifies any missing or outdated documents prompting the user to request and capture those documents based on an organization's business rules.

Though the functionality was designed with all industries in mind, Scan Prompter is ideal for walk-up environments such as healthcare admissions and registration. This allows for the detection of deficiencies prior to files reaching the back office
where obtaining additional documentation from a patient presents time-consuming challenges.

"Scan Prompter can help eliminate errors and make sure that all necessary paperwork is collected at the point of service," said Brian Carr, Perceptive Software senior product manager. "Capturing, organizing and verifying all key documents up front gives organizations more time to focus on their customers."

As with all Perceptive Software technology, CaptureNow flexes to meet unique business needs. Definable rules in Capture Profiles establish a wide range of document preferences supporting features like Scan Prompter. For example, the system can determine if a document is required or an existing document is expired, such as a signed HIPAA privacy form or driver's license.

"CaptureNow simplifies the most time-consuming phase of document management — importing or capturing documents," said Carr. "With a few clicks, a profile can be created that meets the requirements of any environment where information is captured."

Capture Profiles define hardware and software preferences that manage every capture step, such as image processing, automated or integrated indexing, document routing and searchable content generation. Regardless of where or how a document is captured
— from one or multiple scanning stations, fax machines, multifunction devices, e-mail systems, local or remote directories, computer output streams or other methods — profile settings ensure that a quality, digital version is stored securely, organized effectively and accessible instantly.

A new setting in Capture Profiles enables the Print command in any Windows application so that users can import a digital snapshot of any electronic document directly into ImageNow. Also included are enhanced image processing filters, including deskew, border removal, color removal, crop, bar-code detection and patch-code detection.

Once a document is captured using CaptureNow, ImageNow provides instant, single-click access to that digitized data directly from any business application across an intranet or Internet connection. Because ImageNow has been integrated with more than 900 different host applications and versions, CaptureNow and all other Perceptive Software technology can be deployed in a department or across an entire organization rapidly.
