The Cambodian Regatta is due to take place at Phnom Penh from
the 9th to the 11th November 2011.
This ancient water festival, which celebrates the cycle of the Mekong River, is held
in front of the Cambodian Royal Palace and there includes boat races and other
special events. Admission is free and tickets are not required. The festival is
always held to coincide with the November full moon, when the rainy season is at its
height. There will also be opportunities to learn about Cambodian culture by
sampling local fare and purchasing arts and crafts produced by the local people.
There are many Phnom Penh city centre hotels located in close proximity to the events, so visitors to
the area will find they do not have very far to travel in order to enjoy all the
delights of the regatta.
However, for those who would rather stay a little further away there are many hotels
in and around Phnom Penh that cater for all tastes and budgets.
Lek Boonlert, who is Head of Marketing for DirectRooms.com, recommends that visitors
to the area during the time of the regatta, whether there for the event for just for
sightseeing, should book their accommodation as far in advance as possible. This is
because the hotels are likely to become fully booked and will save disappointment
when arriving in the city.
