The annual International Conference on Food Science and Nutrition 2012 (ICFSN 2012) will take place in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia from 2nd to 4th April 2012.

The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Traditional Resources: Scientific Approaches Towards Quality Foods’. There are four key themes to this year’s conference, nutrition and food security, food safety and quality food gastronomy and anthropology, and natural products and innovative food processing.

The conference will provide a valuable opportunity for people working professionally in the food and dietary industry to share and exchange knowledge and ideas. The event will also showcase new technologies, better ideas for avoiding public health concerns and the latest thinking on food processing to avoid deterioration of foodstuffs in storage and transport. It will provide an excellent opportunity to build networks between delegates from different nations working in similar areas. The conference will consist of formal presentations, discussion groups and plenary sessions, with plenty of opportunity for delegates to share their points of view.

The conference will have particular appeal for several professions, dieticians and nutritionists, public and environmental health professionals, food technologists, academics specialising in food and nutrition and those working professionally in the food and beverage supply industry.

The conference is jointly organised by the Universiti Malaysia Sabah, the International Union of Food Science and Technology (IUFoST) and the Malaysian Institute of Food Technology (MIFT).

Abstracts for consideration by the organising committee should be submitted by 30th November 2011, with final paper submissions by 15th February 2012. Early registration fees, before 31st January 2012, are RM700 for local delegates and US$300 for international delegates; payment and registration is via the website. There are discounts available for students, where proof of status is supplied. The venue is yet to be announced, but will be close to hotels in Kota Kinabalu City Centre.
