When it comes to inspirational ideas for the home and garden the Country Living Magazine Spring Fair, which celebrates its twentieth birthday in March 2012, is one of London 's top destinations. Up to 19,500 visitors are expected to attend the Spring Fair at Islington's Business Design Centre, from Wednesday 21st March to Sunday 25th March, for the five day event which, in keeping with the aesthetic of the Country Living Magazine, promotes rural living, artisan designers and offers a wide choice of products from small businesses, many of which you won't find on the high street.

Launched in 1990, this year there will be over 125 new exhibitors to the show offering visitors more than 380 stands hosted by independent designers, small producers and craftspeople from across the British Isles. For those travelling from outside London for the Fair there's a wide choice of London hotels close to the venue to suit all tastes and requirements including five star luxury hotels.

Independent producers choose the fair to launch their new ranges – new exhibitor Anna Victoria, one of Cornwall 's hottest young textile designers will be unveiling her new Kitchen design portfolio at this year's fair. Many others offer special discounts and giveaways. Gift wrapping guru Jane Means, who has recently launched her DVD ‘The Art of Gift Wrapping', is just one example – she's giving people the chance to win two places on a Spring Gift Wrapping Course worth £220.

Alongside the wide choice of items for sale – hand made traditional toys, painted porcelain, kitchenware, greeting cards and individual jewellery pieces – are free workshops on a range of topics, from millinery to bag making, beadwork to biscuit decorating, included in the price of entry (places are allocated on the day on a first come first served basis). There's a food hall full of delicious, regional fare, a beautiful spring garden feature and the Country Living Theatre where experts give talks and demonstrations on everything from flower arranging to making your own sausages.

If it is difficult to visit the Fair during the day then the Gala Evening on Wednesday 21st March from 6.30pm to 9pm is the perfect chance to do some shopping and enjoy a glass of wine while you wander around the show. Advance booking is advised as tickets, especially for Friday and Saturday, are likely to sell out quickly.

The Country Living Magazine Fairs are held annually at London 's Business Design Centre each Spring and Christmas and if you can't make the Spring fair you can plan well in advance for this year's Christmas Fair which takes place from 7th to 11th November 2012.
