‘In the criminal's cabinet: An nthology of poetry and fiction’
showcases work by nearly 100 writers from all over the world. The
(UK) Guardian described the site’s previous anthology as "remarkable
for its global range and depth", but nthposition founder Val
Stevenson sees this one as a greater achievement: “We again
selected poetry and short stories purely on the basis of their quality,
and readers have been blown away by the book’s diversity.
Our last anthology was an ebook, so I’m delighted we have
embraced the qualities of traditional publishing.”
nthposition
was shortlisted for the 2002 European Online Journalism Awards,
nominated for a People's Voice award in the 2003 Webbys, and won
a Utne Independent Press Award in 2004. It was selected by the 2005
Writer's Handbook as one of the world's top half-dozen online poetry
magazines. The site is independent and neither the contributors
nor the editors get paid, so entering the commercial publishing
world is a leap in the dark. Todd Swift, nthposition’s poetry
editor, is unfased: “Yes, it’s a brave step, but we
have succeeded so far by offering readers brilliant, edgy writing,
and there’s always room for more of that!”
