August 14, 2012, 11:07 am -- /EPR NETWORK/ -- The Tour of Britain, the UK's biggest road cycling race, returns for its ninth outing this September. The eight-day tour covers terrain throughout the UK in England, Scotland and Wales including rides from Jedburgh to Dumfries, Nottingham to Knowsley, Welshpool to Caerphilly and Reigate to Guildford.
Over eight stages Olympic gold medal and Tour de France winner Bradley Wiggins along with fellow British cyclists Mark Cavendish, Geraint Thomas and Ben Swift and leading international names from the world of road cycling will ride a total distance of 1,349.9km from 9 to 16 September.
Although the tour does not come to London in 2012, it skirts the capital in locations such as Ipswich, where the tour begins, and Guildford, where the tour finishes. LondonTown.com.com suggests combining a break in the nation's capital with cycling action in the Home Counties. It has secured discounts at a range of hotels in London to make the city more affordable and accessible to all.
LondonTown.com.com recommends the Hilton Trafalgar Hotel London and the Charing Cross – A Guoman Hotel.
The Hilton Trafalgar Hotel London is a grand, imposing period hotel with plenty of luxury and high-class touches. It has its own DJ bar, slick minimalist design features and rooms are packed full of technology. Rooms are available at this four-star property from £119 per night thanks to an exclusive LondonTown.com.com discount of 84%.
The Charing Cross – A Guoman Hotel is a landmark in itself. It is huge, grade II listed Victorian railway hotel exuding plenty of 19th-century elegance. However a recent refurbishment means it is contemporary and stylish inside boasting everything you'd expect from a modern four-star hotel. Its location between the Strand and the Thames Embankment is hard to beat, although the Hilton Trafalgar Hotel London's gives it a run for its money. Rooms are available at this hotel from £99 per night, once again thanks to discounts secured by LondonTown.com reducing rates by 90%.
