Back for its 118th year, The BBC Proms is the biggest classic musical festival in the world. LondonTown.com offers advice on where to stay in the capital

-- /EPR NETWORK/ -- The Last Night of the Proms 2012 is the most highly anticipated event of The BBC Proms series and the most widely enjoyed by every strata of society.

This year, the Last Night of the Proms 2012 features a special Olympic Fanfare from composer, conductor and pianist John Towner Williams. Along with the National Anthem and Jerusalem , 2012's anniversary pieces include Delius' Songs of Farewell and two Puccini works: Tosca – E Lucevan le Stelle and Turandot – Nessun Dorma. Scottish sensation Nicola Beneditti will be picking up her violin once again and will join the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Chorus.

The majority of tickets for the event at the Royal Albert Hall have already been awarded via ballot; however there will be a limited number of tickets available on the night priced at just £5 each. The Last Night of the Proms 2012 takes place on 8 September, coinciding with the final weekend of the Olympics bringing to a close a summer season packed full of sporting and artistic talent and prowess.

LondonTown.com, the number one Internet site for London , is advising people to book London hotels early during the weekend of 8 and 9 September as there is much going on in the capital. It suggests attendees stay close to the Royal Albert Hall at one of the following hotels: the Fifty Four Boutique Hotel and the Grange Strathmore Hotel London. Rooms at these hotels have been slashed by 93% and 48% respectively.

Fifty Four Boutique Hotel is an Edwardian townhouse with bundles of period features mixed with contemporary design and fittings. It is just a five-minute walk from the Royal Albert Hall and room rates start at £66 per night – a real bargain for a four-star hotel in this premier location.

Grange Strathmore Hotel London, also a four-star property, is altogether more grand, hence why room rates are a little higher at £145 per night. This elegant hotel combines Victorian splendour with modern day luxury through its aristocratic air – derived from former resident the Earl of Strathmore – and modern conveniences and technology.
