But David Baddiel is back with a brand new hour, entitled Fame: Not the Musical. The show will be travelling around the country throughout 2012, and includes five dates in London. Baddiel was one of the leading lights of 90s comedy, who paired with not one but two of the best comics of his generation to form double acts, first with Robert Newman, then with Frank Skinner, with whom he was in the vanguard of lad culture. Off the back of hit show ‘Fantasy Football League', Baddiel and Skinner scored a number one hit with ‘Three Lions', which heralded the return of international football to the British Isles during Euro '96.
He combined television presenting and stand-up with a successful career as a novelist, eventually quitting stand-up altogether to concentrate on writing and raising a family with fellow comic Morwenna Banks. His latest show takes an intelligent and anecdotal look at the phenomenon of fame, deconstructing his own success and the wider cultural obsession with celebrity. His Oxbridge education and long career promises to provide a few insights into the machinations of modern celebrity.
The London dates for Fame: Not the Musical take place from 16th -20th October at the Soho Theatre.
