Body = "We are more than welcome to pick up their [competitors]
slack and take care of their customers. But, it is unfortunate that
they weren't there for their customers in the first place. We're
not like that at TEMCo. We take good care of customers," Kristin
Davis, referring to the latest shakeup at Disney that has left some
Disney customers fuming mad. But, not because of anything that Disney,
itself did. It's what some magazine sales agencies selling Disney
Magazine did, or in this case, didn't do.
"We have
a Consumer Interest division whose sole job is to keep up with consumer
trends and interests. That's part of maintaining a successful business-knowing
what the consumer wants." One of their latest assignments was
to find out what Disney
Magazine customers thought about the publication coming to an end.
"Well,
we are not pleased with most of the postings that our Consumer Interest
division saw on internet message boards. A lot of customers only
found out about the news online, and not through the magazine agency
that sold them the magazine. In our opinion, that's unacceptable.
When a magazine agency takes money for a magazine that it sold,
they take on the responsibility of fulfilling that order. The agencies
in
question should have, at the very least, notified their Disney Magazine
customers that the magazine would be ceasing publication in the
near future.
TEMCo wasted
no time doing just that, and even more. Upon being notified by Disney
about the decision, they held an emergency meeting to figure out
how to deal with the issue.
"In about
a week, our Disney Magazine subscribers will have received a letter
explaining the situation to them. We are giving them the option
to receive a
complete refund, or to accept another magazine in Disney Magazine's
place. The magazine that we are substituting is another Disney title
named Disney Adventures. It's quite similar to Disney Magazine and
we feel as though our customers will be happy with the magazine.
We're also starting a marketing campaign to spread the word that
we are welcoming any other magazine agency's former Disney Magazine
customers. In addition to our current discounts, we'll offer those
customers additional incentives to switch from Disney after its
last issue is released, to Disney
Adventures."
Some competitors'
customers have already taken TEMCo up on the offer. "Apparently
several of our customers are members of some of these Disney Magazine
message boards and have posted their good experience with our company
and referred the readers to us. So, we're pretty excited that our
customers are happy with our service. We're not bragging. We're
just embarrassed by our competitors. Because, they're not only our
competitors, they're our counterparts. They need to understand that
their actions, both good and bad, reflect on the magazine industry
as a whole."
