One journalist from the UK called the book “provocative, but very timely for this generation of young people.” Another journalist applauded Giguere for “having the courage to reveal your private pain in order to help others.” "Being the Fat Girl" is an extremely personal and at times starkly honest peek inside Katie’s life as a plus sized girl trying to find her identity in a thin-obsessed culture. Giguere tells the story of her constant struggle to gain acceptance, revealing some heartbreaking stories, including the time a boy handed her a dog biscuit in front of her entire gym class. She balances the book with stories of her victories, remembering the day she met and played her music for Motown legend Stevie Wonder. She tells how God used that unlikely meeting to start her down the path to wholeness and healing. "God has a plan for all of us, and despite our flaws, real or perceived, He can use

Giguere will conduct a book signing (New Day Christian booth, July 10, 3pm) for Christian retailers in Denver at the 2005 International Christian Retail Show, and will promote the book in conjunction with a mini concert at the famed Davis Kidd bookstore in Nashville on June 17th. She’ll also conduct a book signing at the Lemstone Christian Store in Rockford, IL on June 4th. “Being the Fat Girl” is distributed by New Day Christian Distribution and has an official release date of July 17, 2005. Since her buzz-generating debut at Gospel Music Week (GMA) last year, Giguere has been creating a stir within the music industry with her stunning voice. She recently performed on the GMA Music Awards, the "Retailers Choice Awards" held in Atlanta, and "Music at the Mills," sponsored by the Salem Radio Network, among other events.
