SARASOTA, Fla., Aug. 5 / -- Sarasota and Bradenton
area Jackson Hewitt Tax Service(R) locations and the Healthy Start Coalition of Sarasota County hosts the area's first Recipe For Life Family Expo 2005. Joined by area co-sponsors, Hyatt Sarasota, Kiwanis Club of Sarasota, Wal-Mart, Sarasota Herald-Tribune and HSBC Bank, the free event, open to all expecting and young families in Sarasota and surrounding areas, will provide a day dedicated to enriching today's young families. Engaging adult seminars,
educational exhibits, a career and everyday-wear fashion show and a KidZone, filled with supervised activities for children through age eight, are planned for family members. The event will take place on Saturday, August 13, 2005 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Sarasota. Registration for seminars and the supervised KidZone begins at 9:00 a.m. "Giving back to the communities in which we conduct business is extremely important to us," said Dan Prewett, Local Operator, Sarasota Jackson Hewitt Tax Service offices. "We are delighted to partner with Healthy Start and our other generous sponsors to bring such an exciting and value-packed event to
the area. It is our hope that attendees will obtain information that will help them in raising and running their families and careers, as well as provide an exciting free day of fun." Support for the Recipe For Life Family Expo 2005 has been outstanding. Area companies and organizations, such as: Born to Read, Comfort Keepers, Cross Chiropractic, LaLeche League of Sarasota, Ladies First Healthcare,
Sarasota Memorial Hospital, WATCH, YMCA, The Women's Resource Center and others, have enthusiastically joined in to provide a day filled with activity and learning. Here's a look at what's in store:
-- Adult seminars on family finances, infant brain development, benefits of attending tax school, and dressing for success.
-- Exciting exhibits featuring referral and information on child care,
early childhood intervention, health insurance, prenatal health care,
prevention and education on child abuse and neglect, literacy programs, labor and delivery resources, nutrition and food vouchers and support groups for mothers.
-- Free safety fingerprinting for children, provided by the Sarasota
Sheriff's Department
-- Career and everyday wear for adults and children fashion show
-- Tae Kwon Do demonstrations by Lee's Tae Kwon Do

"Supporting young families in the Sarasota area is something our organization has done for 12 years in communities throughout the area. We are continually seeking to expand our efforts and benefit more and more families, which is why we find tremendous value in the potential of this type of event." The Healthy Start Coalition of Sarasota and the Sarasota Kiwanis have also decided to move their much-anticipated annual "Free Community Baby Shower" to the Recipe For Life Family Expo in 2005. Held since 1993 at various locations
throughout Sarasota, this year the event will take place imultaneously with the Expo, providing for an enhanced experience for expectant mothers including a diaper derby, giveaways and more. Families can join in on the fun on Saturday, August 13, from 10 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Sarasota on the Bay, located at 1000 Boulevard of the
Arts. Attendees can park behind the hotel and gain easy access to the event through the Convention Center entrance. Convenient access is also available for those not driving, with SCAT bus service stopping nearby at U.S. 41 (Tamiami Trail) & Boulevard of the Arts. Jackson Hewitt is also providing free, limited-area transportation. Jackson Hewitt Tax Service and Healthy Start Coalition joined forces for the first time earlier this year, when throughout the state of Florida, Healthy Start provided its clients with Jackson Hewitt "Lend-A-Hand" coupons that offered a discount on the preparation of their 2004 tax return this past tax season at Jackson Hewitt Tax Service locations. For each coupon redeemed, Jackson Hewitt provided a donation of $10 to Healthy Start to support its initiatives. For its inaugural effort, the 2005 "Lend-A-Hand" program provided Healthy Start with a Jackson Hewitt donation of over $4,500.
