Boy Scouts Begin Annual Trail’s End Popcorn Sale
Scouts Earn Money For Local Scouting Programs
Raleigh, N.C. – The Occoneechee Council Boy Scouts of America will begin their
annual Trail’s End Popcorn Sale on October 1st, which will raise money for local
Scouting activities throughout eastern North Carolina. The activities reflect
Scouting’s commitment to physical fitness and conservation, along with the spirit of
brotherhood. During this year’s popcorn sale, which ends November 5th, Scouts are
encouraged to “Dream the Big Dream,” a program where the Occoneechee Scouting troops
from twelve counties will work toward their ideal year of Scouting. The 2005 popcorn
sale provides further opportunities for troops to contribute to the Katrina disaster
relief by offering a “Hurricane Relief” ribbon to honor those units that donate $100
or more to the relief.
"The Trail’s End Popcorn Sale provides Scouts with an opportunity to test the skills
they have learned through Scouting and build confidence through selling," said John
Akerman, CEO Occoneechee Council for BSA. "However, the greatest benefit of the
Popcorn Sale is that it allows Scouts to come together to share the brotherhood of
Scouting through the enrichment of local programs.”
