Body = Six years ago the teen television show Swept Away TV was
created by sisters Jaime and Amanda Rich, then 15 and 17 years old.
Over 150 episodes later, and more than 700 teens and college students
participating in their program, the 73 person cast and crew decided
that in order to keep producing their award-winning program, they
needed to become self sustaining. Even on a shoe-string budget,
the show needed a way to become self supporting. The crew had eagerly
participated in marketing projects for video games, cds, and movies
over the past 6 years. They had the experience and the talent to
produce those campaigns for clients nationwide. Thus, Blown Away
Marketing was born.
Blown Away
Marketing has tremendous capabilities in getting trend setting products
to tastemakers across the country. With affiliate youth media groups
in 66 major cities and college campuses in all 50 states, it is
possible for them to put together a coordinated effort across the
country. One of their most effective projects has been their High
School and College Press Conferences where artists such as Sum41,
Andrew WK, Something Corporate, The Exies, Thrice, and the Alkaline
Trio have been introduced to youth journalists who then write or
broadcast a feature about the artists.
"We are
able to target students with particular characteristics and approach
them as peers," said Zac Rich, 18. "When I'm introduced
to a movie, game or a band by one of my peers, it makes it more
interesting to me." "We apply that concept to everything
we do," Rich said emphatically.
Perhaps all
the market research your firm has shelled out for might not be as
useful as a little student union action from the youth marketers
at Blown Away Marketing. If the idea of authentic youth getting
behind your products appeals to you, you might want to check out
Swept Away TV, www.sweptawaytv.com and get in touch with the crew
there. The costs are small when compared with similar services and
the potential reward for your firm is huge.
