Press Release Summary = Could you help a friend or family member involved in an accident? Could you help a child in distress? As the majority of CPR and First Aid is administered by friends, family or work colleagues perhaps you should ask - could they help you?
Press Release Body = Cheltenham 22nd February 2006.
David Holland, local business man and Cheltenham resident, made a new year\'s resolution to give something back to the community. As a fully qualified CPR and First Aid Instructor the obvious choice was to put these skills to use.
"With a little bit of knowledge and some training, people would be in a far better position to respond to an emergency", explains David. "I wanted to do something to give people the knowledge and confidence to help others while remaining safe themselves."
The introductory session lasts 2 hours. Participants gain an understanding of Basic Life Support (BLS) by watching a short video, observing a demonstration, and then having a go themselves. By the end of the session, participants will feel equipped to assess the scene of an incident, protect themselves and respond to someone who needs help.
"The first session on 04th April is a pilot. If it is well received I will run more" says David.
The course is being held at Pitville Lawns Dental Practice, starting at 6.30pm. There is a nominal charge of £11 to cover equipment hire costs. However the programme is not-for-profit and all surplus money will go towards future courses.
When asked what else made David want to do this he replied, "I have 3 small children in school in Cheltenham. I thought about whether people would be able to help them if needed. If I could encourage a few people to be aware of the basics, someone\'s life might be helped in the future."
Notes to the Editor: David Holland does not work as a CPR and First Aid instructor and has no commercial interest in this programme. However he is a fully qualified Emergency First Response and Care for Children Instructor.
