Announcing The Launch Of The UK's Biggest Ever Fishing Competition
Bedford (UK) - 20th February 2006
Coarse angling in the UK just got a lot more rewarding. This month sees the launch
of UK's biggest ever Angling Competition - 10,000 TagsTM with £100,000 in prizes for
the winning competitors.
The event is the brainchild of Greg Wimbourne, who has come up with a national
event, open to anglers of all abilities. "Fishing is the UK's biggest participator
sport and it deserves a big fishing competition to reflect this" says Greg. "For
some time I've felt that fishing competitions should be about adding fun to our
sport, rather than just catering for the top anglers. We wanted to ensure as many
people as possible could not only participate, but most importantly, win prizes" he
continued, "The UK has an enviable record in competition angling, producing a number
of world champions including Bob Nudd, Ian Heaps and more. It is hoped that the
event will inspire a new generation of competition anglers to follow in their
footsteps."
The concept of the competition is simple - big numbers. There will be 10,000 tagged
fish distributed among 200 fisheries. Each coded tag has a prize designated to it.
This equals 10,000 prizes with a value of £100,000 -- plus the chance of winning top
prizes in a Grand Draw - including a Land Rover "Freelander" worth £19,500,
Continental fishing holidays and a complete fishing equipment make-over.
The full list of participating fisheries will be published in the weeks leading up
to the competition, in the Angler's Mail.
