Press Release Body =

CavyRescue - the UK\'s first and only dedicated rodent rescue charity - have
launched a helpline for people who have to rehome their pet which gives step by step
information on finding a new, loving home for their animal.

No-one likes to think that an animal will be separated from an owner that they have
come to love and trust. However, sadly there are circumstances where rehoming a pet
is the only, and fairest, option. For example, where couples split up and cannot
take their pet with them due to accommodation problems. Or maybe where they become
ill and are no longer able to cope with the care of their animal.

It is therefore in the best interests of the pet that they are found another home.

Jason Hulott, co-founder of CavyRescue says: "Where someone wants to rehome their
pet, a Rescue Centre is the first place they approach. However, Rescues are
overflowing with animals and may not be able to help for quite a while. They may put
you on a waiting list or ask that you try somewhere else.

\"We decided to set up the helpline so that we could help people and their pets in
this predicament. Indeed, rehoming a pet yourself is more beneficial to the animal
in the long run. This is because the stress factor for them will be reduced as going
from a home to a Rescue Centre to another home is a bit harrowing for any animal,
however big or small. By going from the security of a home straight to another
should minimise any distress.\"

The helpline gives a recorded message explaining all the steps someone needs to take
when looking to rehome a pet themselves from start to finish, including where to
place advertisements right through to vetting potential new owners.

Jason adds: \"We hope this new helpline will assist pets and their owners in a sad
situation by minimising upheavel for the animal and help relieve the continuing
pressure on Rescue Centres.\"

The helpline is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a week and can be called on 0906
598 5258. *
