The Law Firm of Lewis & Daggett Motivates High School Students To Take A Pledge Against Drinking and Driving
The Safe Sober Prom Night program has it\'s main emphasis this month during prom season. Started in 1991 by attorneys Mike Lewis and David Daggett it\'s a serious program for a serious problem. The goal: to use positive peer pressure to combat the problem of alcohol and drug use among high school students. The program begins each fall with a t-shirt contest where high school students compete for the chance to design the winning t-shirt which is then distributed broadly.
Winston-Salem, NC - April 17, 2006
This month area high school students will be featured in a television commercial that encourages their peers to take a pledge. The script, written by Lewis & Daggett legal assistant Brian Law, reads like this:
I took a pledge to myself to achieve all of my dreams, why would I mess up, everything I\'ve worked so hard for by drinking and driving.
Joining the students is actor Robert Vaughn encouraging a positive call to action.
Mike Lewis and David Daggett say they started the program as a way to give back to the community. It is currently operating in over 400 high schools in North and South Carolina. In the triad area alone they have personally paid for and are distributing more than 10,000 free \"Do it Right!\" t-shirts to students who take the pledge.
The program actually kicks off each fall with a t-shirt design contest. Students compete by entering their design for the Safe Sober Prom Night program. The winning design is then featured on the t-shirt that is mass distributed to high school students each spring.
