Want to move to beautiful Northern California (3.5 hour drive from Lake Tahoe, 1.5 hour drive from snow-covered Sierra Nevadas!) but worried that you can\'t afford to live here? January, 2003: I\'d just arrived in Vacaville, CA after completing 20 years in the Army--most of my time spent at Fort Bragg, NC. The thought of being my own boss was intriguing to me and I picked carpet cleaning as my business. I thought if I just bought the latest and greatest equipment that the customers (\"clients\") would make the phone ring off the hook.
Boy was I wrong. I soon realized that I had to become a smart marketer real quick; smart in marketing and advertising. Which I did, but not before I\'d attended a couple 3-day seminars and read tons of material. But the result of all that was I was able to design a \"hands-off\", self-sustaining flow of new customers. And nearly all of my customers became repeat clients.
This was all accomplished thru Yellow pages advertising, a website, and a couple other systems that ensures the success of the company. Why, then, am I selling the company? Good question: I\'ve been flying back and forth from here in California to the east coast and working part-time for an old Army buddy making body armor near Ft. Bragg, NC. It became too much to keep up the carpet cleaning at the same time. Nevertheless, last year (2005) I grossed $54,500 working just 3 days per week cleaning carpet. And I took off 2 entire months in 2005.
So, the company is now exactly what I was looking for when I started it, and now I\'m selling it! That\'s just the way it goes sometimes.
If you\'ve given any thought to relocating to this area, then this is a great way to live here! It\'s beautiful out here and you can charge a lot more for carpet cleaning out here and everyone is glad to pay you. This way you can afford to live in beautiful Northern California!
