Press Release Summary = The Assay Development & High-Throughput Screening Conference aims to present the latest technical advances in cell-based and biochemical assays and data management along with examples of the HTS applications in drug discovery and development.
Press Release Body = MONROVIA, CA - HTS remains one of the most challenging and resource-intensive steps in the drug discovery process, with the end result depending on proper balance of assays, experimental design, and data management. The Assay Development & High-Throughput Screening Conference aims to present the latest technical advances in cell-based and biochemical assays and data management along with examples of the HTS applications in drug discovery and development.
Sessions on Cell-Based and High-Content Screening assays will reflect emergence of cell-based assays as a major drug discovery platform that eliminates bottlenecks associated with traditional screening.
Dr. John Wang, Associate Director, Drug Discovery for the Novartis Institute for Biomedical Research will kick off the conference with a look at "How New Technologies Reshaped Modern Drug Discovery: A Fascinating Journey of 20 Years". Directly following Dr. Wang's featured presentation, Dr. John Morin, Director of HTS for Wyeth Research will discuss "Cell Based Screening Applications in the Real World".
Additional speakers from Amgen, Amphora Corporation, Anadys Pharmaceuticals, Cyprotex, Eli Lilly, Euroscreen, Genentech, GE, GlaxoSmithKline, Merck & Co., Novartis, Pfizer, Roche, Serono, Wyeth and Xantos will present on new technical developments, data collection and management, cell based assays, in vitro assays, and HTS applications in drug discovery.
The event will take place June 22-23, 2006 at the Marine's Memorial Club & Hotel in Downtown San Francisco, California. More information including a detailed agenda, exhibitor opportunities and registration information can be found at http://gtcbio.com/confpage.asp?cid
