The Opera House has hosted a ménage of top class acts over its history, including acts such as Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, The Faces and Pink Floyd.
The owners of this prestigious venue, Solent Leisure Ltd, who also own a series of top class hotels in the area, leased out the venue for many of its recent years. The organisations that have taken the venue on over the last few years have taken the venue to a point of no return, with sales dropping dramatically as well as the quality of the venue itself.
But under every cloud there is a silver lining and much to the relief of the Bournemouth and Dorset public, Solent Leisure Ltd have taken back the keys to the venue and inputted some of the top entertainment specialists into The Opera House team as well as a complete revamp and refurbishment. This ingenious new move will undoubtedly turn The Opera House around, taking the South's music scene by storm and restoring the venue to its former glory.
The Opera House in the past has been one of the UK's 'Superclubs,' rated as "the new clubbing capital of Britain" - Muzik. Although Slinky and other clubbing nights at the venue are still creating queues down the streets, the new Slinky Brand Manager, promises to create a whole new clubbing scene, "Post refurbs, Slinky will have a whole new and exciting image with some of the most influential DJ's set to grace our stage. We will set the way for the whole of the dance scene, and that's a promise" Slinky will be celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, which will see a national TV advertising campaign for their new 'Slinky Classics CD,' a huge international tour created by new Slinky resident, Marc Vedo, as well as a medley of other major collaborations with some of the UK's top dance promoters.
On the venues live music front, new Entertainment Managers James Brennan and Jonathan Dyson, are bringing some of the top bands in the world to the venue over the next few months, including Graham Coxon, Alabama 3, Less than Jake, The Stranglers, The Delays, Toots & The Maytals and legends of the Reggae Scene, the infamous Wailers. The entertainment managers are also bringing in top new acts such as The Young Knives, new Island signing The Rumble Strips, The Pipettes, Towers of London and The Organ to name but a few. They are also working closely with gurus 'Live Nation' on shows such as Donavon Frankenreiter with many more exceptional shows to follow.
The Bournemouth live music scene now has an immense 'buzz' that is leaving its keen public salivating at the mouth, desperate to discover what more this brave new live music venue is going to offer.
With music downloads on an ever increasing high, the public is flocking to venues such as The Opera House to not only discover some of the most exciting new music around but to see some of the world's top music acts without having to travel into the midst of the "pea-soup" that is London.
