Press Release Body = RICHARDSON, Texas - October 8, 2006 - damaka, a fast-growing communication and collaboration software company, has a new member on its advisory team. Dr. Andrew Lippman is the founding Associate Director of the internationally renowned MIT Media Lab and has a more than thirty-year history at the Institute. He also co-directs the MIT-wide Communications Futures Program and is the Director of the Digital Life Program, which works to create a networked world where communication becomes fully embedded in our daily lives. He has written both technical and lay articles about the digital future and given over 250 presentations throughout the world on the future of information and its commercial and social impact.
Dr. Lippman is an advocate of the idea that the edge based innovation is poised to revitalize and transform communications in ways similar to the PC revolution in computing. He noted, "Whatever device you have today will itself become software and break free of its current hardware platform." He also noted, "Our job is to build the collaborative future and show you how you can live in it."
According to Siva Ravikumar, damaka's CEO, "We are very much honored to have Dr. Lippman join our team. He has spoken extensively to the telecommunication industry on pushing control and intelligence from the network to the end-user. This is exactly what damaka is doing and we are delighted to work together with a visionary MIT professor to spread the joy of communication and collaboration."
Dr. Lippman received both his BS and MS in Electrical Engineering from MIT. In 1995 he completed his PhD studies at the EPFL, Switzerland. His current research interests are in the design of flexible, interactive digital television infrastructure.
