Press Release Body = Salt Lake City, UT / August 25, 2006 / Press Release / -- Last week, Utah\'s Mortgage Fraud Task Force met to discuss the state\'s status as number two in the nation for mortgage fraud, as well as seek out remedies for a solution that if left unattended could potentially cripple a state known for its beauty and easy way of life. Sheri Fitzpatrick and Michael Blackburn represented Perfect Home Living at the Task Force meeting and participated in discussions with Division and Association heads within the real estate industry as well as meeting with a key political proponent, Utah State Representative Paul Ray sponsor of Utah\'s mortgage fraud bill.
One of the many key highlights of the Task Force Meeting was State Representative Paul Ray\'s announcement that the proposed mortgage fraud bill would include language making real estate fraud crimes committed in the State of Utah allowable to fall under the RICO Statute. Additionally the language of the proposed bill would ask for funding of a special prosecutor exclusive to real estate fraud crimes.
\"Utah is in serious trouble right now and the MARI Index proves it,\" said Michael Blackburn, VP-Operations for Perfect Home Living. \"The belief that Utah can continue to remain reactive is out of the question. Utah as a State, its licensed industry, lawmakers and consumers must take proactive steps to becoming educated to red flags within Utah\'s real estate market,\" Blackburn added.
During the Task Force\'s meeting, leaders from Utah\'s Division of Real Estate, Perfect Home Living, Utah\'s Mortgage Lender\'s Association, Utah\'s Mortgage Banker\'s Association, Utah Banker\'s Association, Senior Freddie Mac Fraud Investigators and Salt Lake City\'s Federal Bureau of Investigations shared an ongoing commitment to work together in providing increased transparency, anticipation, and overall awareness to Utah\'s burgeoning real estate fraud problems.
Education was also a very important topic for discussion during the meeting. All Task Force members expressed the importance of ensuring access to quality education, promoting research and development, and facilitating education mobility for Utah and her consumers.
\"Perfect Home Living has put into play a Utah Fraud Prevention Program which alerts consumers, licensed industry professionals and investors of Utah\'s real estate market with what we like to call Best Practices. We believe the key in going forward will be the building upon Perfect Home Living\'s foundation with shared knowledge from industry executives such as Tee Tyler, Senior VP Zions Bank, Derek Miller the Director of Utah\'s Division of Real Estate and Utah State Representative Paul Ray. Utah is a state of immeasurable assets and talent, and for Utah to drop from rank of second in the nation for fraud it\'s going to take a collective effort of those assets and talents,\" Blackburn added.
