Press Release Body = Vancouver, Canada, January 18, 2007 -If you think that the
legal jurisdiction relating online gaming is confined to the territory of a
particular country, then think again. The recent arrests of Stephen Lawrence and
John Lefebvre, the ex-directors, Neteller, by the US officials indicate that the US
can reach any part of the globe to bring charges against the people involved in the
online gaming industry located anywhere in the global geography.
This move by the US authority is aimed at eliminating illegal online gambling in a
bid to put an end to the money laundering practices. Two more incidents had made
headlines:
Two leading offshore online gambling companies, Worldwide Telesports, Inc. and
BetonSports, PLC, had been indicted by the US justice authorities for allegedly
running online gambling business. Both of the indictments were unsealed on May 17,
2006 in the United States District Court.

In another incident, on July 2003, PayPal and its parent eBay entered into a civil
settlement agreement with the US Attorney's Office for the Eastern of Missouri to
settle allegations that it was an accomplice in unlawful offshore and gambling
activities. As a part of the agreement, PayPal agreed to forfeit 10 million dollars
which was derived from the proceeds of unlawful online gambling transactions.
