Making A Difference In Her Own Community
Growing up in a town with less than enough opportunity to go around, Shanea Patterson wants to send more than one message to other young African Americans as well as the youth from her own community. "People that live here don't really believe in themselves enough and I want to show them that kids from Poughkeepsie can make it big," Shanea says. After recently graduating from Poughkeepsie High School, Shanea decided to take her love for writing to the next level. Writing novels since elementary school, Shanea has come along way trying to figure out how to get her work published. "This is an opportunity I can't possibly pass up. This is my dream," she says.
