MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Golfers with a passion for NFL football, warm spring weather and the odd bout of do-gooding won\'t want to miss an upcoming charity golf tournament in Myrtle Beach.
Coinciding with the start of high Grand Strand golf season and Caravelle Resort\'s grand reopening, former All-Pro cornerback Donnell Woolford\'s Celebrity Golf Tournament benefits the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
Woolford credits the Boys & Girls Club with giving him a safe haven as a child and helping get him a scholarship and graduate from Clemson University in South Carolina.
\"This is a potential once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend a day with a group of people who were the best at what they did and have realized their lifetime dream,\" Woolford said. \"It is a great opportunity for the participants to be able to have a great time and experience, and to be able to do it for a great cause.\"
Expected participants include NFL legends Willie Parker, William \"Refrigerator\" Perry and Dwight Clark (he of the immortal \"The Catch\" in the 1982 49ers-Cowboys NFC Championship game); Heisman Trophy winners George Rogers, Mike Rozier and Johnny Rogers; former heavyweight boxing champion James \"Bonecrusher\" Smith and many more.
