March 5, 2007 --- Internet news and information group AnimationInsider.net is pleased to announce a recently published interview with composer for TV and film Shawn Patterson, the man behind the creative music of \'El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera.\' The interview is one of the newest articles added to the website\'s subsection \"The Animated Voice,\" which houses editorials and interviews regarding the animation and comics industries.
Composer for TV and film Shawn Patterson recently took time out of his busy schedule to speak with AnimationInsider.net\'s News Editor about his work featured in the new Nickelodeon animated television series \'El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera.\' A new program whose art direction, witty dialogue and musical composition easily surpass the quality of other, contemporary Saturday-morning cartoons; \'El Tigre\' is a fun and exciting animation through and through. The TV animation, co-created and co-executive produced by Jorge R. Gutierrez and Sandra Equihua, utilizes musical theme and score composition by Shawn Patterson, a theme and score beautifully representative of the living, breathing Latino culture within which \'El Tigre\' operates.
In the Animation Insider interview, Shawn Patterson talks about his experience with the animation industry, his approach to writing music and his work as it appears in Nickelodeon\'s new series \'El Tigre.\' For this fun and unique television animation, Patterson draws on his experience and studies in traditional jazz theory, and improvisation to create a distinct, diverse and confidently eclectic aural environment. Complex and cinematic yet warm and familiar, Shawn Patterson\'s musical composition is in perfect harmony with the ambitious storytelling of \'El Tigre.\'
\"I think that in many ways I wanted to be a part of film and storytelling,\" Patterson responded when asked about the origin of his ambition for film and television musical composition. Storytelling, he comments, has always been the component of film and television production whose gravity was greatest. The son of a multi-instrumentalist, and many a time an understudy of well-known jazz musicians and composers, Patterson believes that the best way to emphasize one\'s passion for the music industry, as well as to find a taste for the gravity of composing for television or film, is to experience it personally.
At the center of \'El Tigre\' is Manny Rivera, a well-meaning but ultimately very easily persuaded ten-year-old boy who derives adventure and mischief alike from his superhero/super villain persona \"El Tigre.\" The son of a revered superhero Rodolfo \"White Pantera\" Rivera, and the grandson of a famed super villain, his Granpapi \"Puma Loco\"; Manny adventures throughout the urban melting pot that is Miracle City, in search of ways to both defend justice as well as ways to subvert it. Thanks to persuasive friends and an inherent sense of ambivalence, Manny learns the good and the bad of the world in this smart and colorful television animation from Nickelodeon.
