Press Release Body = Microsoft .Net programmers rejoice! A new IDE simplifies developing Regular Expressions.
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) April 16, 2007 - NTP announced the release of Regex Studio. Regex Studio is an integrated development environment for Microsoft.Net regular expressions. It provides an IDE for .Net programmers to create, edit and test their regular expression patterns. The built-in code generator will create the snippets of code to use in C#, VB.Net, ASP.NET, and both Managed C++ and C++/CLI.
Regex Studio is a development environment for .Net regular expressions designed to make the creation, editing and testing of regular expressions easy. Features aid in easing regular expression development, including: Syntax Highlighting, ToolTips, The Analyzer, Dynamic Help, The Expression Builder, Regex Code Generation, dedicated regex Assembly Compilation, The Gallery and the test-bed allows for tweaking of all regex options.
Regex Studio was born from a need to dynamically create and test regular expression patterns. The tool supports syntax highlighting, thereby making it easier to view complex regular expressions. Tooltips show what parts of a regular expression expand out to. Keyboard tooltips alert you when syntactically incorrect regular expressions have been typed. The Analyzer dynamically breaks down your entire regular expression and describes what each part means using real English language.
Dynamic help provides constant information at all times about how the environment works, along with what regex patterns mean. The last thing a user needs is learn another development environment, and Regex Studio includes Dynamic Help to make it easy to pick up and use immediately.
The test facility allows the user to type sample text and see how the regular expression works. Regex Studio supports the three modes of .Net regular expressions: match, replace and split. To ensure you never lose your important work, the history list keeps a complete history of all text you type. At anytime, you can easily go back to a previously entered regular expression.
The Gallery feature allows you to choose from a number of predefined regular expressions, thereby making it much easier to start from tested and known, working regular expressions. The Library feature allows you to store your own regular expressions in the Gallery. The Print option will print out all the information about your regular expression, including analyzer output, so you will know exactly how it works.
Once the user is done creating, editing and testing their regular expression, the code generator takes care of creating the code required to use the regular expression in their application. It supports C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET, Managed C++ (used in Visual Studio 2002/2003) and C++/CLI (in Visual Studio 2005).
For advanced users, Regex Studio includes the ability to compile their own regular expression assemblies. This is a little-known feature of .Net 2.0 which provides the ability to pre-compile especially complex regular expressions into an assembly. You then access the assembly through a reference, just as you would any other assembly. The beauty is that, being an assembly, it has already been compiled, and will operate at optimum speed. Regex Studio is the only tool known to provide this ability to create these special Regex Assemblies.
Regex Studio requires the .Net 2.0 common language run time and supports code generation for both .Net 1.1 and 2.0. It works under both Windows Vista, Windows XP and Windows Server.
Regex Studio sells for $39.95 USD, and for a limited time all proceeds go directly to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). The customer pays directly to LLS, which is fully tax deductible.
