Press Release Body = Cleveland, Ohio - May 1, 2007 - Spring is definitely here, and
the warm weather has enticed many collectors out in search of goodies to fill those
empty niches in their collections. The May 2007 issue of Kovels on Antiques and
Collectibles newsletter brings the collector up to date on the latest prices, trends
and news. The 12-page, color-illustrated newsletter is available to subscribers in
print and online from the Kovels' website at http://ww.kovels.com . This month\'s
issue features stories on:

Picture Perfect Portrait Miniatures. Picture an 1810 portrait miniature of a young
boy as a pin or pendant. Watercolor on ivory paintings like these were tokens of
affection before the invention of photography. One of the examples in this month's
issue sold for $2,820 at a Boston auction. Travel back in time and see some great
examples in this month\'s issue.

Dog Sculptures and Other Related Collectibles. How much is that bronze bulldog in
the window? Well, if you were at the auction and had bid over $1,673, the bulldog
could have been yours. You don\'t have to beg for more news about the sale. Many more
canine collectibles are featured this month.

Occupational Shaving Mugs. Remember when a shave and a haircut cost two bits? Those
were the days when every man had his own shaving mug at the barbershop. A mug that
once belonged to an electrical lineman recently sold for $2,645 at an Ohio auction.
Occupations of all kinds were shown on the mugs. Check out some of the wonderful
examples in this issue.

Fire Alarms Wake Up Collectors. Hundreds of fire alarms in all shapes, sizes and
varieties were auctioned by Clearing House Auction Galleries in Connecticut early
this year. The auction gallery owner called it "the largest auction of antique fire
alarms ever held." Nobody disagreed. Check out the different styles and prices in
this month\'s issue.

Chinese Porcelain from Under the Sea. Nine years ago, two Vietnamese fisherman
snagged their nets on a shipwreck that held a treasure trove of Chinese porcelain
bound from China to Europe in the 1720s. Read about these unique pieces of history.

Display Cabinets with Glass Doors. An antique Hepplewhite-style corner cupboard with
fancy glass doors would fit into any décor, One of the cabinets pictured in this
issue was restored, so its price at a North Carolina auction was a reasonable
$5,290. Read the inside story on bargain glass-doored cabinets in less than perfect
condition.
