Press Release Body = Dr. Ron Johnson, Team Leader at the National Institutes of Health Chemical Genomics Center in Bethesda, Maryland is presenting on "Quantitative High-Throughput Screening of Cell-Based Assays" at GTCbio's 2nd Assay Development & High Throughput Screening Conference on May 31-June 1 in Boston, MA.
The NIH Chemical Genomics Center (NCGC) uses the tools of small molecule discovery to develop chemical probes for the study of protein and cell functions. The center performs automated high-throughput screening (HTS) on assays submitted by the research community and carries out chemistry optimization on confirmed hits to produce chemical probes. By utilizing advances in assay design, instrumentation, and data analysis, the NCGC has developed a strategy called quantitative HTS (qHTS) to generate concentration-response curves for a range of biochemical and cellular assays on large compound collections. This approach is rigorous, generates a comprehensive assessment of library activity, and enables assessment of structure-activity relationships, all from the primary screen. The qHTS methodology and its application to cell-based assays will be presented.
GTCbio's 2nd Assay Development & High Throughput Screening Conference on May 31-June 1 will take place at the Omni Parker House in downtown Boston, MA. The meeting will be held concurrently with GTCbio's 2nd Protein Kinases in Drug Discovery Conference.
