New York, NY-5/7/2007- Philadelphia Filmmaker, Curtis "Gideon" Simmons tackles
Virginia Tech Massacre and challenges American leaders to step up to the plate by
choosing to air groundbreaking programming that contains homosexuality, drugs,
prostitution, racism, and other "deadly sins" that occur on college campuses across
the U.S. This summer the unreleased television pilot will be available for download
via digital and online television networks. The writer and director, Curtis Simmons,
began filming "The Yard" in early 2006. 1 year prior to the tragic events that
occurred on the college campus in Blacksburg, Virginia. Simmon's say's "The Yard"
unveils the harsh reality of college campuses today and digs deep into the root
causes of why our college campuses are no longer a safe haven." Simmons further
goes on to say that "America has a false mentality that horrific events such as the
Virginia Tech Massacre don't happen on college campuses and "The Yard" shows that
these campuses are in fact vulnerable to some of the realities that we face in the
streets and in urban America. The pilot will be online for review in late June.
"The Yard" is currently being reviewed by cable networks, and will eventually land
on ITUNES for download according to Damon Pennington, producer and business mind
behind the project.

ABOUT THE YARD
THE YARD is a dramatic series exploring the lives of six diverse college freshmen
that come from not only racially and economically different backgrounds, but are
also poles apart when it comes to perspectives, and aspirations. Television viewers
will be able to journey with these students as they navigate THE YARD of Thurgood
Marshall University. Although the majority of characters are African American, the
experiences on the yard are universal, because no matter where you come from, those
four years are an experiment of balancing freedom and responsibility, where
sexuality, politics, racism, and personal prejudices are confronted daily. This
dramatic series blends artistry with real life, in such a way that not even reality
TV could master. The Yard is a production of Philmbiz Entertainment and Fountain
Penn Productions out of Philadelphia, PA. To view the trailer please visit
