Michelle Wie put up a monster number through the first 16 holes of the LPGA Tour\'s Ginn Tribute, before pulling out of the event, which is hosted by Annika Sorenstam, saying that she tweaked one of her wrists.
Wie had been sidelined since January with injuries in both wrists. It was unclear how she might have re-aggravated it.
She was 14-over-par through 16 holes. Her round included a 10 on the par-5 third and a triple bogey on the par-3 14th.
Despite the performance and the apparent re-injury, Wie says she is not ruling out competing in the McDonald\'s LPGA Championship next week. Wie spoke to reporters after her round.
Q: Are you optimistic from here on out once your wrist does heal?
MICHELLE WIE: Yeah, you know it felt good when was practicing but, you know, I kind of like tweaked it in the middle of round a little bit.
So just taking caution measures, and I know what to work on. The only way to go up from here is up, so I\'m feeling pretty good about it.
