Press Release Body = Aviation Watch and IFFAAD are pleased to invite you to our forthcoming event titled "Air Crash: Issues of Relief And Compensation to Victims and Families Legal, Medical, Technical, Insurance, Liabilities, Compensation and Relief". This conference is to be held on Friday, August 31st 2007, at the Oberoi, New Delhi at 10:00 am.
This is a special event, first of its kind, in India which will focus on the implications of air crashes to the victims and their families. This event brings together experts both Indian and International specializing on legal, medical, technical, insurance and other aspects of relief and compensation for air travel.
With the recent 'Open Sky' policy and the phenomenal increase in air travel in India, various issues in air safety still need to be resolved and urgently looked into. For instance India is still awaiting ratification in air travel relief from the Montreal Convention 1999 which unifies all rules including those under Warsaw Convention and those governing compensation, leaving victims with Indian passports at the losing end.
Aviation in India is still governed by various acts formulated decades ago such as Carriage by Air act-1972 which have not taken the current magnitude of travel into consideration. This has created various mismatches in the Indian aviation sector.
This conference will discuss and explain existing rights for passenger compensation and relief from Air crashes to the survivor or next of kin. Further topics of discussion include:- . International conventions covering compensation and relief to the victims of air crashes / air accidents . Domestic laws governing compensation in case of an accident in a domestic flight.
. The role of medical and disaster management agencies and what are the facilities and contingency plans in the event of an air crash. . Obligations of the rescue agencies. . Agencies involved, Procedures stipulated. . Legal / medical procedure for injured and dead in air crash. . Legislations, conventions, protocols covering air safety & security. . Relief given to air crash victims of Indian nationality. . Non-ratification of Montreal convention 1999 and it's implication in denial of full relief to victims of Indian nationality. May I take this opportunity to invite you to attend the conference and depute a correspondent with photographer to cover the conference on Friday, August 31st 2007, at the Oberoi, New Delhi at 10:00 am. Your presence will give it the much-needed gravity and importance it deserves. I am taking this liberty of attaching a copy of the brochure for your kind reference.
We look forward to your kind confirmation at your earliest. Thanking you
Yours truly,
