WiFiMobile opens its network to customers without dual mode phones for low cost international calls
Los Angeles, California September 20th 2007
LA based mobile VoIP provider WiFiMobile announced major enhancements to it’s service which not only addresses the fact that open Wi-Fi is not always readily available but also cheap long distance calling is normally restricted to a particular range of mobile phones.
On top of their current mobile VoIP offer compatible with Nokia E and Nseries smartphones, the company has launched Call Through Numbers initially for eleven countries, the US, UK, France, Russia, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Canada, Spain, Germany and Australia. This new offering is non-handset dependent and works on all mobile phones. The benefits apply to both new and existing customers.
All WiFiMobile customers are provided local Call Through Numbers for these eleven countries which effectively allow international calls to landlines in over 40 countries to be made at local rates. The user simply dials the local Call Through Number followed by the destination international number and they are instantly connected. These are standard local landline numbers and are included in any price plan bundled minutes. There is no charge for the international leg.
In addition anyone travelling to any of the eleven listed countries are able to pick up a local SIM card and call back home for the cost of a local call.
The company are keen to state that this service is fully compatible with any mobile phone and that there is no need for any Wi-Fi access or 3G data plan. Calls can be made where the user has normal GSM coverage and it is not a Call Back service.
The service is priced at $15.99, €11.99 or £7.99 with no long term monthly commitment and 14 day free trial is available at the company’s website.
CEO Gerry O’Prey states “Our VoIP client oneFone continues to strive forward but this enhancement opens up our services to the masses. Any mobile handset can be used, there is nothing to download and it is simplicity to use.”
