Furcadia released a major update today, adding a free bear avatar and five premium
avatars. Also released were a small but significant addition to Furcadia\'s powerful
DragonSpeak scripting language, and a test alpha version of Furcadia\'s new
PhoenixSpeak user-defined database system.

The premium avatars included two Ferian (quadrupedal) Big Cat avatars, along with
the first of what is hoped to be many seasonal avatars: Werewolves, Bats, and
Penguins. Seasonal avatars will be sold only periodically throughout the year,
although users may purchase early in order to be able to use these avatars at other
times.

Several important additions were made to Furcadia\'s proprietary DragonSpeak
scripting language. One was ability to shake the viewers\' playscreens, which allows
for more visceral special effects when combined with appropriate sound files. Also
added was support for up to 100 DragonSpeak Buttons: customizable, skinnable buttons
that can be used for everything from inventory systems to custom interfaces to
playing-cards and other game pieces.

Perhaps the most exciting part of the update was the last-minute inclusion of
Furcadia\'s long-awaited PhoenixSpeak system. PhoenixSpeak allows for persistent
storage of data from user-created areas (\"dreams\"). Data can include such things as
hit points, gold values, high scores, or even just how many times the user has
arrived in the dream that week. This represents a long-awaited and much needed
supplement to the normally transient nature of Furcadia\'s user areas.

Furcadia is a massively multiplayer online social game (MMOSG) produced by Dragon\'s
Eye Productions of Austin, Texas. Furcadia will soon celebrate its eleventh year of
service as a pioneer of user-created content and digital social architecture. For
over a decade, Furcadia has evolved its 2.5D highly-customizable isometric
gameworld, adding features in editability and ease of social interaction that were
(and are) well ahead of their time. \"User-created content\" is becoming a major, much
touted buzzword for games like The Sims Online and Second Life, as well as sites
such as MySpace and Youtube. Furcadia has focused on user-created content and been
powered by the creations of its users for over ten years. This is the root of the
