Press Release Body: NEW YORK [Dec. 12, 2007]- Endearing actor Matthew Montgomery ("Long-Term Relationship") has come on board to help produce Director Chuck Griffith's next feature film, "Shifting the Canvas," set to start production in May 2008.
Griffith, one of the most talked-about filmmakers of recent times, immediately pursued Montgomery, a rising star among independent film, to co-produce the project, following a meeting between the two.
Additionally, Robert Zimmer, Jr., producer of "Half-Life," an official selection of the 2008 Sundance Film Festival, will also be producing the film.
"Shifting the Canvas," will star John Paul Pitoc ("Trick"), Scott Thompson ("Kids in the Hall"), Patrick David ("Walking Across Egypt") and Edward Singletary ("Thank You, Good Night").
"I'm absolutely thrilled to be working with Chuck and Robert on this film," said Montgomery. "Chuck's artistic vision is just astonishing to me. It's evident that he's highly influenced by the artists around him and I'm happy to be a part of this remarkable film."
The buzz-worthy film, which is being overseen by Roaring Leo Productions, the brainchild of Griffith, tells the story of a promising artist who makes a Faustian deal with a local real estate developer to paint six pieces in four months, based on a painting hanging in a café, which was never his painting in the first place.
In a broader sense, "Canvas" seeks to tell a relevant and contemporary tale about the negative effects of gentrification and the struggles of surrogate families.
Roaring Leo Productions is a production and distribution company of first-rate cinema, based in New York City.
