Press Release Summary: Mike Sexton, Kansas based digital artist has had his first art book published showcasing the wide range of his artistic style and showing his progress over the course of his career to this point.
Press Release Body: Mike Sexton, owner of Birdman\'s Designs- www.birdmansart.com -a digital artist & graphic designer as well as website designer based in Junction City, Kansas, has had his 1st art book published! This past May Mr. Sexton won a people\'s choice art contest held by Kennedy Publishing and first prize was a publication deal for his artwork. Mr. Sexton has been a professional artist for approximately 3 and half years now but he says, \"I\'ve been drawing and doodling for most of my life including creating my own folder covers in school as well as bookmarks to give it some extra personality.\" Since opening his business back in 2005, Mr. Sexton has created many designs to sell in his Cafe Press store for people to be able to purchase his work on clothing items for women, children & men as well as gift items such as mouse pads or pillows or even coffee mugs and shortly after this he also began to take on clients for website design work as well as graphic design to help pay the bills. He says this about art, "Art is an absolutely wonderful career to have but I'm also honest with myself and I know that it takes years to build up a successful reputation as an artist and so as I create more paintings and try to get my name out there more I also work as a website designer and graphic designer to help pay the bills of a 'starving artist'."
Mr. Sexton found this contest in an online art group that he's a member of and thought he'd give it a try and was very happy he did. With this publication he hopes more art lovers will see his work. The book entitled \"The Wild & the Magical- Fantasy & Wildlife Art by Mike \"Birdman\" Sexton\" features works from the last 3 years of Mr. Sexton's career. These include some of the very first paintings he created as well as several that are extremely recent. When asked what sorts of categories these paintings include he stated, "I tried to include a bit of everything I create from birds to big cats such as tigers and lions as well as fantasy art such as dragons which I've always found fascinating as well as one of my biggest loves- Egyptian art which covers both their mythology/ancient religion as well as buildings from that time of history. I think art lovers of many different genres will want to have this book and see that art isn't just oils or watercolors but that digital art can also be a very powerful and telling medium to display in one's home and for other digital artists or aspiring digital artists to also realize that there really is an appreciation for such work out there. Quite honestly just because a piece is created digitally does not mean it took any less time or effort or skill for that matter than a regular painting done on a traditional canvas & with traditional paints and brushes. This can be a fulfilling and rewarding career & this is what I hope to convey in my book."
